An example
| A | AM | AN | 37 more columns | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Name | 25/10/2026 | 01/11/2026 | |
| 24 | Mizan |
- AM27Read: attended
- Row 36Not read: a totals row
1. What it reads
The spreadsheets you pick. A register, names down and dates across, is read one tick at a time.
2. What it takes
Cell AM27
Name: Vetri Date: 25/10/2026 Attended: ✓ Dorm: Woodlands
3. The record it makes
- Type
- Attendance
- Date
- 25 Oct 2026
- Programme
- English Classes
- Person
- P-0013
- Reads
- Every tab of the spreadsheets you pick. A register is read tick by tick; any other table row by row.
- Leaves out
- Empty cells, marks like “absent”, the totals row, and columns of phone or ID numbers or donors' names. Never any file you didn't pick.
- How often
- Every 30 minutes, and only when the sheet has changed.
- You need
- A Google account that can open the sheet. You pick it in Google's own file picker.
- When things change
- A deleted row stops counting. A corrected cell is read again. A renamed column is read as before.
Connect it, step by step
In Sources, pick Google Sheets, then Continue with Google.
Choose your account and allow read-only access: only the files you choose, nothing else in your Drive.
Press Choose spreadsheets. Google's picker opens: pick one or several.
Check each spreadsheet with how many rows it holds, or how many ticks if it is a register, and its name. Press Read this spreadsheet.
Watch the first rows being read. You can close the page.
Where you'll see it
- Sources shows when it was last read, its rows and the records found. Change picks more.
- Overview counts attendances and people served. Open a number to see the row, its tick highlighted.
- People lists each learner as a code, with the spellings seen.
- Review asks “Same person?” when a name is spelled two ways.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| “Your browser stopped Google's window from opening.” | Allow pop-ups for Evidently's address, then try again. |
| “We can't open this with the account you signed in with.” | Pick the spreadsheet with the account it belongs to, or share it with the one you used. |
| A spreadsheet stops being read. | It was unshared or deleted. What it brought in is kept. Share it again, or take it out with Change. |
